Overview

The Traeger Timberline XL is built for the outdoor cook who regularly needs more room—not someone who occasionally throws six burgers on the grill. With 1,320 square inches of cooking space spread across three stainless-steel levels, it is designed for large family gatherings, entertaining, batch cooking, and anyone who does not want to run multiple smokers for one meal. Traeger rates its capacity at up to nine chickens, twelve racks of ribs, or nine pork shoulders, depending on how the food is arranged.

The biggest advantage over the standard Timberline is the wider 33-inch cooking chamber. The Timberline XL provides 440 additional square inches of cooking space while retaining the same premium cooking system and 500°F maximum temperature. That extra width matters when cooking briskets, multiple rib racks, large quantities of wings, or several different foods at the same time. This is the model to consider when cooking capacity is more important than conserving patio space.

Like the standard Timberline, the XL includes an integrated Traeger Induction® cooktop. It gives you a separate high-heat cooking surface for searing steaks in cast iron, sautéing vegetables, frying, or simmering sauces while food cooks inside the pellet grill. This addresses one of the traditional limitations of pellet grills: they are excellent smokers and outdoor convection ovens, but they do not always produce the concentrated direct heat required for a hard steakhouse-style sear.

The fully insulated cooking chamber and Smart Combustion™ system help reduce temperature fluctuations, particularly during colder or windy weather. WiFIRE® connectivity allows compatible settings and food temperatures to be monitored through the Traeger App, while Super Smoke® Mode increases smoke production during lower-temperature cooking. Cleanup is also more manageable than its size might suggest, thanks to the EZ-Clean™ Grease & Ash Keg, which collects grease and pellet ash in one accessible container.

The Timberline XL makes the most sense for someone who cooks for crowds, hosts regularly, or wants a large premium pellet grill that can become the centrepiece of an outdoor kitchen. It is a substantial grill at 71 inches wide and approximately 289 pounds, so smaller households should seriously consider whether they need the added capacity. For customers who will use the space, however, the Timberline XL delivers the cooking room, versatility, and convenience needed to prepare an entire outdoor meal from one station.
